Pleased to meet you!

My name is Kristin and I am addicted to pens and paper.
The glove box in my car contains two reporter notebooks and various packs of Post-its. I’ve turned the car’s center console, built to hold a cup, into a pen holder. And I’ve got two desk drawers at home dedicated to cards, stationary, stickers and ephemera.
I like to write.
While the advent of the internet and email certainly makes corresponding with my closest pals faster and quicker, there’s just something about holding an actual letter in my hand. It makes the connection with my friends more real. You can probably guess that I prefer to read physical copies of books than their e-versions, can’t you?
Back in college, my Mum used to create cards and send them to me so I would have something to open and remind me of home. And when I moved into my first apartment, she was the first person to send me snail mail.
At the same I was acquiring my new address, Jenn was moving to Guam with her Coast Guard husband on their first tour. Demi was also settling in nicely with her fiance. Pen Pal Productions began then, I suppose, when we made the decision to stay in contact through snail mail rather than Facebook.
I mean, who doesn’t love getting fun things in the mail? Pen pal letters and cards somehow make the appearance of bills in the box a bit easier to accept.
For more than three years, the three of us have passed letters back and forth. Jenn sends a letter to Demi, who replies to Jenn and writes her own updates, and then mails Jenn’s letter and her own to me! I reply to both of them, add my own updates, put Jenn’s letter aside and mail to Jenn mine and Demi’s replies. And the cycle continues!
Professionally, I am a reporter for and editor-in-chief of two weekly newspapers. Like I said, I like to write. And I do it - a lot. Writing cards to friends and keeping up with the pen pals is such a nice 180 from the writing I do during the day. It’s a great way to wind down.
Recently, my boyfriend of nine years, Sean, asked me to marry him and I said “YES!” So all of my free time is devoted to DIY-ing a 2015 wedding. My fiance (Oooh, first time writing that!) and I are new homeowners who are obsessed with gardening, staying active and our fur baby Kali - a sassy Siberian cat. I’ve got an affliction for anything vintage and a knack for crafty things. When I’m not sleuthing on assignment, I’m treasure hunting through antique shops, fiddling with photographs and keeping a positive attitude about life!

Hello, World!

Hi, friends! I'm Jenn. I'm a 20 something, moderately-crunchy wife and mom to two handsome boys and our bouncy black lab, Koda. In my free time (ha ha) I stay busy as a full time MSW student, amateur picture-taker with a preference for landscape and HDR images, travel junkie, wanna-be book nerd, and 90's music car-karaoke superstar.
I'm living and exploring Alaska for the time being after spending the last three years in Guam. It's hard to be far from family and close friends; sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it, but I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything.
I'm admittedly awful at snail mail. I'm a procrastinator at best, and if it weren't for gentle reminders from Demi & Kristin, my house is where our penpal letters would probably come to go unanswered and collect dust. Aside from dust, I also collect fabric and sometimes I quilt it. Quilting is new to me, but I find the sound of a sewing machine soothing and it's a great way to unwind. Plus, it's all the rage in these parts during the dark months.
I'm excited to share ideas, projects, and books with all of you!

Allow me to introduce myself...

...My name is HOV. H to the oh vee.
Hah! Jk.
 Hiii!
My name is Demi and I love all things crafty. I have way more fabric in my stash than I'll be able to sew and enough patterns to open a store. I love the planning stages of a dress, hate the cutting and love showing off the finished product. I have been sewing for four years now and I learn something new every time I sew. I should share that my sewing room is a closet and my projects almost always spill out to the other rooms in the apartment. Thank you for putting up with my mess hubs!

My husband and I live in Massachusetts in a little three room apartment with our two curvy lady cats, Chloe and Sophie. We have been married for two years and together for seven. He is my favorite person and makes me smile every single day.

I love sending packages in the mail. I know my post office employees by name. I am there almost on a weekly basis with a letter or a package for a friend or family member. Snail mail is just the best to give and to receive! If you haven't sent anything in the past month- go now! You'll be happy you did.

I have been a nanny for the past five years and love going to work every day. Sadly, there is a set amount of time I can stay employed by them. I can't imagine any other family working out as well as my current family so this will be my last nanny job. I have decided to become a teacher and would love to teach Spanish in an immersion school for the city of Boston. I have been accepted into Simmons College to complete my Masters and will begin the end of my college career in September. Three more years and my "real" life starts but until then I will craft and create here for you to see. I hope to inspire you to make your life a little better than before.

Hey, let's produce some amazingly wonderful things together!

Meet my pen pals- Jenn and Kristin
